Greener Company = Happier Employees

Charlton College of Business Undergraduate Honors student Cassandra Walsh suggested a thesis topic: does the relative reputation of a company for being green impact employee satisfaction? Thesis advisor Prof. Adam Sulkowski and Cassandra found data on the relative reputation of companies for being green and relative employee satisfaction and financial performance information for a total of 113 companies. A regression test was conducted and two hypothesis were tested. The first hypothesis was that relative greeness causes a company to have more satisfied employees. The second hypothesis was that the financial value of a companies impacts employee satisfaction. Firm financial value was shown to have no impact on employee satisfaction. However, the relative reputation of companies for being green was shown to cause companies to have more satisfied employees. This assertion - that a company's reputation for being green positively impacts employee satisfaction - can be made with more than 99.99 percent certainty.
